NA3:  Cloud Computing and the Data Center of the Future
Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Speaker:
Sam Charrington, VP of Product Management & Marketing, Appistry, Inc.

Seemingly from nowhere, cloud computing has become one of the hottest IT topics in 2008. For most IT practitioners, cloud computing represents IT delivered by providers outside the enterprise via the internet. In reality, every IT shop will become a cloud computing provider for their own applications. Today's stove-piped application delivery models are giving way to the cloud-based models of tomorrow. The rapid adoption of virtualization in the data center is only the first step.

This presentation will begin with a discussion of the market forces that will drive enterprises towards internal cloud-based models for application delivery. An overview of the technology stack that will enable cloud computing in the enterprise will be presented. This presentation will include several case studies detailing early internal cloud implementations. These examples will explore the challenges that initially drove interest in a cloud-based model, the technology approaches taken, as well as the benefits achieved.
