This presentation will provide the attendee with a broad based understanding of the Green Movement and how it will affect our data centers today and tomorrow. The speaker will address the origins of the current regulatory environment, as well as ongoing programs under development by DOE, EPA Energy Star, California Energy Commission, Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, the Green Grid, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, the Critical Facilities Round Table and others. He will explore recent IT and facilities technologies considering some of the operating and energy efficiencies that can be attained with them and explain how to effectively measure and monitor their performance. He will go on to lay out a program to improve the performance of "existing data center" facilities. He will also look at major issues to be considered when planning and designing the emerging, "next generation" data center.
