NS7:  New Regulations & Compliance Issues: How to Stay One Step Ahead
Thursday, August 7, 2008, 10:15 am - 11:15 am

Speaker:
Tim Russell, VP and GM, Archive, Compliance, and Storage Security, NetApp.

When it comes to storing and protecting digital data on disks and tapes, what should the rules be and who should set them? There are already hundreds of laws that affect digital data storage and this space is rapidly changing. Rather than wait for each state to pass its own law, companies must implement a data security infrastructure that combines advanced security technologies, like encryption and key management with processes that manage risk on an ongoing basis. This session will address how enterprise businesses can partner with the federal government to develop laws and regulations that strongly protect consumer data without being overly burdensome to the companies that must keep this data. We will explore how to find the right balance.
