Next Generation Data Center Puts The Spotlight On Virtualization
Charlotte McCormack

6/28/2007 - Framingham, MA, June 28, 2007 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events has announced that virtualization will be a key theme at Next Generation Data Center™ (NGDC™) with an entire conference track featuring multiple sessions dedicated to the advantages and challenges associated with deploying and managing a virtual infrastructure.  The inaugural event will also feature an opening keynote on virtualization by Werner Vogels, President and Chief Technology Officer, Amazon.com, entitled “Virtualizing the Datacenter: The Road to Infinite Capacity.”  NGDC is scheduled to debut August 6-9, 2007, at the Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco, CA.

Virtualization is moving into the mainstream in the data center, bringing with it a new set of technologies including HPC and Grid, which in turn creates a new set of challenges in securely deploying and managing a virtual infrastructure.  Virtualization holds the promise of increasing scalability, reliability, performance, utilization and manageability, as well as reducing overall costs in the data center. But how does today’s IT professional migrate to a virtual environment that can be both secure and well managed.  NGDC will address these challenges head-on with conference sessions covering when and how to deploy, interoperability, management strategies, security and more, arming attendees with information on today's virtualization solutions while preparing them for the next generation of technology.

“Server virtualization has matured into a set of technologies that are allowing organizations to vastly improve their server utilization, consolidate resources, cut cost and increase the flexibility of their IT operations,” said Melinda Kendall, VP and General Manager, NGDC.  “Attendees will learn how to maximize their virtualization deployment through top-notch conference content.”
In addition to the opening keynote on Tuesday, August 7th at 9:00 a.m., highlights from the Virtualization track at NGDC include:

• Improving TCO in NextGen Data Centers through Implementing Virtualization and Blade Servers
• Grid - Distributed Computing at Scale
• Case Study presented by Appistry, Inc.: Revolutionary Solutions for the Data Center of the Future
